Love on the Tracks Page 16
“Is that a challenge?” His question is punctuated by a slick glide of his erection over where I want it most. Holy shitballs. God do I ever want to know what will happen if I tell him it is.
“Yes?”
“Perfect.”
With that, he’s sliding into me—thank god he had the foresight to put on a condom when we started, because I’d have a hard time locating the presence of mind to demand one now. All I can think about is how good he feels inside me, how perfect the width of his hips is between my legs, how much I love the way the dusting of hair on his chest brushes against my breasts, tempting my nipples into hard, desperate peaks.
I hold onto him as we move together, enjoying the thrust of his hips, the way he fills me, the rhythm we establish together. Then I can’t help myself anymore. I want satisfaction, and he’s going to give it to me.
“Please, Zane.”
“Please, what?” His words are a gravelly coaxing, his breath against my ear a tease. He may be up for subtlety, but I’m not.
“Please fuck me. Harder. I want all of you. Give it to me.”
He nips me then, a soft close of his teeth around the flesh of my earlobe before he gives it a positively sumptuous suck. Zane may be the one all the girls swoon over, but I’m the one he lavishes with attention and fervor, and holy hell, I love it. “I’m yours to command, my Valkyrie.”
Thank god for that. I shift my hands so I’m outright grabbing his ass and show him how fast I want it, encourage him to drive into me while I rise up to meet him, and yes, this is what I wanted. Our legs tangle, and he’s working over me, snapping his hips in the way I’m demanding. There’s the thinnest sheen of sweat starting on his forehead. So maybe he doesn’t have the stamina of a SIG athlete, but I’m more than happy to work on that.
The tension’s been building in my body, and I let it. Not like when I’m on my sled and I need to stay loose. No, the windup here is one of the best parts, the strain and the tightness forming so in that one perfect moment—
“Ah! Yes. Yes, Zane. God, yes.” It all gets blown apart, and all that control I’ve spent years acquiring, all that discipline and mastery. It’s all scattered around me as my muscles work involuntarily and I cling to him in these moments of complete exposure. And keep holding while his own climax overtakes him and he shudders in my arms. Powerful and vulnerable all at once we are, and never more so than when we’re together.
“Need you, Row. Love you.”
For all the flowery and wonderful words in his songs, I like these simple, nearly incoherent ones better. His songs are for the world, but this, this is only for me, as is the way he kisses me after he’s spent. Runs his nose alongside mine and says it again when he’s not spilling inside me. “I do. Love you.”
I kiss him back, and wrap my arms around him so he can feel it with all the strength of my body as well as with the gravity in my words. “Love you too.”
Acknowledgments
Thank you to Eileen and the rest of the SMP Swerve team—I’m so excited to be working with you. To think this all came out of one little conversation about Michael Phelps!
Many thanks to my super-agent, Courtney Miller-Callihan, who helped make these books a reality. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have on my team in this crazy game called publishing.
Also thanks to AJ and Alexa for helping get my lady luger and her boy-band love into shape.
To my friends MTS, LG, EH, and KO, who sometimes get my head out of my books with tea and cocktails and dinner; you guys are the best. And thank you to JG, whose music wormed its way onto my playlists—I’m not a world-class athlete by any stretch of the imagination, but you’ve gotten me to look forward to breaking a sweat.
Thank you to my family, who put up with a lot of evenings, weekends, and early mornings without me while I worked on this series. I’ll blame the kitchen renovation for the takeout, though—that wasn’t my fault. This time . . .
And, as always, my readers and reviewers; I’m grateful that you’ve spent your time and resources on my words. I hope you’re loving my venture into sports romance, and that you’re excited about the next four Snow and Ice Games books—there’s so much more sexiness and heart-pounding competition where this came from!
